Memorial Day is also known as Decoration Day. Basically, it means decorating the graves of martyr’s (soldiers that died in military service) soldiers with flowers, country flag and wreaths. This Day is celebrated in the United States. Many people visit cemeteries to pay a visit and remember the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

This day is often considered as the start of the summer season. This day is announced as a state public holiday all over the United States.

New York was the first state to consider it as a legal holiday in 1873 and after this many more states started to consider this day as an important day and declared it a legal holiday.
